falling in colors

Watercolor is by far my favorite medium to paint with, closely tied to acrylic in second place. But to be honest, I can’t paint in watercolors very well, or even at a satisfactory level, but maybe that’s why I love it, it can be whatever you want it to be, it can be minimal water and pure paint dabs to be vibrant and full, or you can douse it like a hose and see what happens…I usually prefer the latter.

Spontaneity is my key, I don’t even have a solid plan, just a rough sketch in my head of what id like it to be and I just floor it. Usually it turns into a chaotic mess of paint supplies strewn about my room, notebook scribbles and a canvas on its way to the trash bin. But I learn and I try again, and again, til something looks somewhat artistically beautiful in some weird abstract way, and I continue on.

Most of my projects are not winners, but I suppose that’s just part of practicing. To eventually create more successful artworks than failed ones, and that’s something to work toward and a good place to start.
