daily nonsense and art relatables

the self-doubt blues

I’m sure there is a point, even at the very beginning, where an artist (or aspiring artist) feels that their art is not acceptable enough, comparing their styles and practices to others and finding themselves lacking.

You see art and your awestruck, amazed that anyone could create this beautiful piece, wonder to yourself, why can’t I be that good? But I’m slowly starting to learn that we each come into our own, our own techniques, our own styles and color palettes we prefer to use, to ultimately create our own signature design that is truly us.

Be your own cheerleader

I suppose I should stop having self doubt about my artwork, it’s not that it’s bad, or that I lack any creativity, it’s just different, and different isn’t always a bad thing. Acceptance is just as important as practice, loving your art is essential, as well as trusting your instincts. Seeing your mistakes, not as setbacks but ways to improve on the details. Everything has to be in balance, and leaning into your creativity and letting it flow is uplifting and inspiring in itself, even if nothing successful comes of it. Just have to believe in yourself.
